Season Five – Video Trailer

Taking the beautifully edited audio trailer our GM, Cassie created, I worked on a video trailer for our new season over the weekend.

In previous seasons, I’ve been terrible about posting new seasons and episodes, mainly because of my constant forgetfulness. However, if I’m being honest, I tend to not be the best about self-promoting projects I’m working on. I guess, one could say that is a project in itself I am working on — the confidence in self-promoting, I mean…well, you get the idea.

A trick I’ve been doing is reminding myself that my amazing friends I play with are so talented that I should boast and post even if for just that reason alone. I feel like an overly proud helicopter parent who will gladly talk for hours about my wonderful friends, so maybe I can use that as a cheat code around my imposter syndrome.

Playing Brindlewood Bay has certainly been an enjoyable challenge. While the mechanics are simple to grasp, its been an interesting new mix to the playstyle I’m used to where I am a player interacting within a story that has been formed by someone else (or mystery, as is the case with most of our seasons). It’s been a different sort of muscle to flex because instead of figuring out the “correct” answer to the mystery, you are very much co-writing the answer with your teammates. It is a great lesson in communication and improvisation that’s had me mulling over thoughts that maybe will inspire a post on the subject later on.

Made the movie trailer over the weekend using my skills as a corporate instructional designer (which requires me to also be the content designer, training program manager, etc.) I used Movavi 2024, its a pretty simple program that I think has the value matching the price tag. It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles I’m used to, but I don’t have that corporate card backing when it comes to personal projects.
